Launching Scotland’s Own Gaming Energy Drink

This week, we are proud to officially launch Z Game, a brand-new healthier alternative to energy drinks created for gamers, by gamers.  

The culmination of a 2-year journey, Z Game is both a family passion project and the beginning of an exciting new brand and gaming community that we’re proud to kickstart. Before I explain what we hope to achieve with the launch of Z Game however, let me take you back to where it all started…

 

Our Story

The journey to the launch of Z Game began when our son asked to try one of the existing energy drinks aimed at gamers. He was only 12 at the time, so it was easy to say ‘no’ to his request.

Of course, the wee fella persisted and, not wanting to be parents who say ‘no’ with no substance or reasoning, we checked out the ingredients and were surprised by what we saw: High levels of caffeine, high sugar and some other dubious-looking ingredients.

While this and other energy drinks have limits on the age group they can market to (16+ in the UK), the nature of online gaming and influencer/streamer advertising nowadays undoubtedly grabs the attention of all ages, meaning that while we wouldn’t want our son consuming a highly caffeinated drink at only 12, the marketing and endorsement of such drinks is hard to escape, and hard to avoid being curious about.

This took us off down a rabbit hole and started some extensive research into what’s currently out there in the gaming energy drink market. After checking ingredient lists, various websites and customer feedback on the issue, we had a spark of inspiration – we saw a gap in the market for a gaming energy product that could deliver better for people.

The desire for a more natural, more responsible energy drink, combined with the desire to do better for our planet, gave birth to Z Game!

 

Our Product

Z Game is a powdered focus and wellness drink, aimed at giving long-lasting energy for gamers, streamers and everyone in between. With natural colourings and flavourings, the Z Game blend also delivers B vitamins (plus C &D) and minerals to supplement daily intake and provide more mental focus.

We officially launched at the Glasgow Gaming Event on Saturday 20th November 2021, with our online launch taking place on the 22nd November. Starting with 2 flavours, including the all-time classic “sour apple” and another iconic and uniquely Scottish flavour to reflect our heritage… “iron brew”. It’s one we’re particularly proud of and makes Z Game feel like Scotland’s own gaming energy drink.

With more flavours under production and a product roadmap, we’re entering the space as a challenger brand – to challenge the existing brands to do better, to offer people something that is healthier and more ethical. Eventually, we’re even aiming to offer a caffeine-free version of Z Game that still provides stimulation and focus, though this will take some careful research and testing into the perfect recipe.

We’ve taken 2 years to get this just right, because we want to do the right thing and make it a product that balances naturally derived energy with vitamins, natural flavourings and extracts for slow-release, consistent focus for gaming, streaming and other screen-intensive activities.

 

Our Mission

One thing we all know is that the world isn’t fairly balanced. Even in 2021 there are monumental issues facing people across the world and the ongoing concern of climate change. This gives the human race a responsibility to fix things and as a company we want to take some responsibility and give something back.

As part of our company launch, we will be setting up a charitable foundation aimed at fundraising for causes that are near and dear to the hearts of our community. The gaming community has already shown its capacity for delivering amazing results for noble causes, especially in Scotland. As we embark on our roadmap, a key part will be fostering a strong community of followers, friends, customers and collaborators – we then hope for this to lead to support and engagement for charitable causes.

No matter the cause, we want our community to tell us who needs help and we’ll do whatever we can to make a positive difference, apportioning a percentage of our profits every year to give back to those in need.

We are also coming into the market conscious of our impact on the environment. That’s why our products use less packaging, which is also recyclable – standard practices for any conscious business nowadays. However, we aim to eventually eliminate plastic from our packaging altogether and will also be giving something back to our planet for every single product sold.

As a company we will join efforts to plant trees around the world and restore seagrass, a project we will start locally in Scotland before looking further afield to the wider UK and across the world. These efforts will be in order to support environmental initiatives and offset our carbon footprint for the good of the planet.

Being a recent start-up, Z Game is in an excellent position to do so and we will make this a core part of what we do as a company going forward.

 

Our Future

Through extensive development work, taste tests and efficacy trials, we know we’ve got the Z Game blend just right, but over time we’ll continually review our products and what’s available to improve on what we deliver as a product and as a company.

We want to ensure we’re continually achieving our goal of delivering better for people and the planet, as well as sticking to our original philosophy of creating an alternative to typical energy drinks that is more health-conscious while providing the focus and long-lasting energy expected from such a product.
